Airlie Beach - Great BarrierReef Day Dive
The cruise to and from the Hardy Reef Pontoon is all part of the experience. You'll travel on a high speed catamaran through spectacular islands and bays. At certain times of the year you will see migrating humpback whales, dolphins and possibly a cruising whaleshark.
Once you reach the pontoon at Hardy Reef lagoon there is undercover seating and tables, sun decks for topping up the tan, freshwater showers, change rooms and full access to the air conditioned comfort of our reef vessel. There are numerous ways to explore the reef, from the underwater viewing chamber, to the semi-submersible submarines, snorkelling and of course scuba diving with experienced diving instructors who will take into account your scuba diving experience when organising your dives.
Scuba diving is available as an extra for both certified divers and also those who would like to experience scuba diving for perhaps the first time on an introductory dive. All dives are guided by trained instructors due to the need to protect the fragile environment and so that you won't miss the best of the coral and marine life.
The pontoon is located on Hardy Reef at the Hook, Hardy and Line Reef Complex. If you've never been to the outer reef before you will be amazed at the calm reef waters even on blustery days and the way the coral rises from the water on low tides and then disappears completely on the high tide. The deep channels between the reefs are also spectacular and you can see the steep sides of the reefs disappearing into the depths as you cruise slowly by.
Cruising to the Outer Great Barrier Reef
A range of purpose-built reef vessels, designed with the Great Barrier Reef in mind will provide your transport to the Hardy Reef pontoon. All are high speed catamarans with spacious air-conditioned lounges, large outer viewing decks, bars serving refreshments and comfortable seating. passengers from Daydream and Hamilton Islands are picked up en route so you will be able to see these resorts and cruise through all of the fabulous waterways that provide access to them.
Morning tea, afternoon tea and a gourmet buffet lunch are included. Catering is provided by award winning Airlie Beach retaurants who pay particular attention to supplying fruits and vegetables in season. Freshness and originality best describes the professional presentation of the buffet style meals. Free tea and coffee is available and there is also a bar onboard serving a full range of alcoholic and soft drinks.
